Day 17

Wednesday 20th of January 2010 at 22:19

Day 17 Over the past week I have recently found some new friends. Two birds! They both fly around the boat at least once a day looking at me, probably thinking what the hell is this guy doing! I'm no bird spotter but they're quite small with a white front to them. They swoop around only inches off the water. I wonder what their called?

I'd thought I would share a photo with you all. It's basically what I look at each day!

Everything is ok on the good ship Speedo, just trying to bang the days out now.

They sound like a couple of Storm Petrels. 10 points if you spot them dangle their feet in the water (like they're running) and 15 points if you see them actually sitting on the ocean.
You're closing in on your nearest competitor and the fleet. 5 miles at the moment. Captain K you must have had your Weetabix today.

Good day Captain Ketch.
Good to hear you are eating , sleeping and coping. Your two little friends sound fun. You should try to capturer a pic and we could have an online competition to identify them. That would suit us landlubbers who don't have the energy that you do to row out and see these things for ourself. Keep up the good work of being our Atlantic Eyes and Ears. Oh and doing a bit of rowing too.
Best for now
Uncle Dave
