Great News - Finally Off!
After all the delays over what has become the last month, I'm finally going to be able to set off on the 4th of Jan.
The last six weeks have certainly been interesting with an unexpected trip back home for Christmas being at the top of the list. It's strange how you get into a routine when you've been somewhere long enough. For example, in the mornings I get up and work on the boat. In the afternoon I may go for a row, then by the time I'm done its early evening and I come back to the flat where I'm staying now. Repeat that day in day out and it doesn’t take long before this place starts feeling like home, especially when you find yourself speaking little bits of Spanish throughout the day.
It certainly will be a relief to get going on Monday. To get to this point has taken nearly two years and a lot of hard work. It will be worth it though.
Whilst working on the boat today I stupidly dropped my shower pole that I made back home in the UK into the marina. I was absolutely gutted when I watched it quickly sinking to the bottom. I just couldn't get to it in time. Tomorrow morning when the tide is at it's lowest I need to try and dive to the bottom to retrieve it. I'm told it's around seven meters deep so not sure if I'll be able to get it or not. I went to a lot of effort to rig up my shower so I'm not going to let it go without a fight! Will let you know if the "The Ketch" shower gadget lives on!
Physically and mentally I'm as ready as I'm ever going to be, so just looking forward to getting out there now. If anyone does want to email me whilst I'm on the boat then this is it: speedo@mailasail.com I can only receive txt so please don't try and send through photos, as much as I'd like to look at them.
I'm now off to enjoy a nice fillet steak and chips!
Out for now,
Adios... Hasta la vista!
Captain Ketch!
