La Gomera Round Two!
As most you know there have been some pretty big delays to the start of the 2009 Atlantic Rowing Race. This did mean I could come home for Christmas which was an unexpected surprise. After all the fun of Christmas which included, eating lots of food and training it was time to fly back out for the Atlantic Rowing Race round two!
After a delayed flight I finally got into Tenerife last night. Due to the delays I did miss the ferry so stayed in a hotel by the port. I picked up the first ferry this morning. I did enjoy the snow back in the UK, it was fun snowboarding with my brother down a main road in the town centre. You don’t do that every day. You also don’t row the Atlantic everyday, so it was nice to get back out hear and see everyone. As usual the sun was shining and it could not be any different from the UK.
I also found out today that the race has been moved to either the 2nd or the 3rd of Jan. A bit frustrating but I’ve come this far, a few days are not really a problem. The reason is no longer the wind but six meter waves going the wrong way. Again it would mean we could make no head way.
Over the next week I will do some sort of training just to keep ticking over. I also need to take a quick dive to clean the bottom of the boat as it’s built up a layer of slime on the hull where it’s been sat in the marina over the last few weeks.
Looking forward to getting out there now so fingers crossed there are no further delays.
