New Race Start Date
As most of you know now there has been some delays to the start of the 2009 Atlantic Rowing race. This has been due to unusually low pressure systems in the Atlantic, causing high winds and rough seas. The good news is that the weather is due to clear after Christmas. With this is mind the race organisers have made a decision to make a new race start date of the 29th December, and to allow the race fleet to go home for Christmas. Stupidly I left all my Christmas presents on the boat when I flew home a few days ago. What was even more stupid was turning up at Gatwick at midnight in shorts and T-shirt to be greeted by minus one temperatures.

It is rather frustrating coming home after being in Gomera ready to go for the last three weeks, however i’m a true believer in things happen for a reason. I’m now flying back out on the 27th to be race ready by the 29th.
Whist waiting for my flight home in the departure lounge I decided to google myself (must of been bored) and found four new press articles. (I Am Active, Basingstoke Gazette, Row2K and British Rowing) you can check them out here. http://www.atlanticadventurer.com/press/ there quite good actually.
Also I need to say a big thanks to my sponsor Speedo who have now got me on there home page and are really supporting my campaign. Check it out!

I have been back in the country for a few days now and have already rowed two marathons and done one 10K run. I intend to keep training hard over Christmas as the opportunity to do what I’m doing does not come around that often.
Hope everyone has a lovely Christmas and you’ll all here from me very soon.
