La Gomera Part 1

La Gomera Part 1 After a pretty cramped flight I finally arrived in La Gomera last Thursday. One of the first things that hit me was the heat. I knew it was going to be hot out here but it did surprise me. A nice surprise though and I’m already getting used to it, which is a good thing as it will only get hotter where I’m going. Another thing that surprised me was how little english is spoken on the island. Managing to get by though.

Since arriving it’s just been full scale boat preparations. I thought I pretty much had everything tied up but lots of little jobs came out of the wood work. Today I managed to fit everything and finish off all the little jobs, so Speedo should be in the water in the next few days. I’ll then be able to take it out for a little spin. The aim of this is just to get used to deploying the para anchor (stops me going backwards at night) and to fully test the water maker.

Just over one week to go until departure now so getting close. Feel quite confident though. If you look on the gallery there will be some photos of the boats up shortly.

Out for now
