Boat finally ships out!
After a year and a half of planning and working late into the nights my boat finally shipped out to La Gomera. It turned out to be a bit of a last minute rush as the boat needed a few alterations before it shipped. I thought it would be easier to do it in my warehouse where I have tools and power rather than in a marina with limited resources. With a bit of help from my dad we finished the work at 1.30am on Wednesday morning. Any other day and this would of been fine however the boat was due at Tilbury docks in essex at 8 am that morning. Due to the traffic we needed to leave home at 4.30am in order to get to Southampton, pick the boat up and take it to Essex in time for our loading slot. Fortunately everything went super smooth and we had no problems.
It’s been a tough year trying to pull everything together on my own but thankfully I’ve managed to get it done! The real challenge is really not far away now. In my mind and experience so far I think, anyone who can put an ocean rowing project together and get to the start line is a winner already really.
Now the boat has shipped it’s time to knuckle down and train like an absolute animal. Anything I can do to make the first few weeks easier is worth doing in my eyes.
