Training day at Queen Mary's Reservoir
It was a glorious day as I drove up to Queen Mary's reservoir for a day of rowing and testing kit. Queen Mary's reservoir is one of the largest in the UK, making it perfect for testing the boat and generally spending time rowing it. Situated in Sunbury it's also very easy to get to.
With a bit of help from some of the staff at QM we managed to launch the boat fairly easily. Once on board I took advantage of the wide open space the reservoir can provide and started to row in a similar shift pattern for when I cross the Atlantic. 45 mins on and 15 mins off. Time went very quick once I got my Ipod on and upon glancing at the GPS I realized the miles were racking up quite quick.
By the end of the day I had rowed just under 10 miles. I was especially pleased with how the boat handled as there was quite a lot of wind about, however the boat was not affected at all by it.
Queen Mary's reservoir is excellent for training so I'll be back on it soon.
