It's time to pick up the boat

It's time to pick up the boat Well I finally purchased the boat that's going to take me across the Atlantic. On Saturday August the 30th around 7am myself, my dad and good friend Matt made the Journey up to Manchester to collect the boat from its courageous owner Anthony Taylor. Anthony had crossed the Atlantic earlier this year in a very successful crossing, battling high winds and rough seas and still managing to finish in just over 70 days. Upon our arrival myself and Anthony went through all the kit and electrical systems. It was just a little refresh I needed as Anthony had run me through everything when I viewed the boat a few weeks earlier. That said it still took the best part of 2 hours. You'll be amazed at just how much kit is required to make the crossing. Once finished we secured the boat on the trailer and attached it to the tow bar on the car. Although it seemed to take forever everything went well on the drive home to Basingstoke and we made it back in just over 4 hours. I must say I was amazed at how much attention the boat got when we stopped off at the service station to pick up a Burger King. It's quite funny to see the look on people's faces when you tell them you're going to row the Atlantic in it.
